other places

Sellers is in SF right now and traveling for work. So it may be quiet on this front for a while. I've started up my old blog again so you can visit me there: borrowed, bought, stolen.

Happy Days!

average every day

i'm finally getting to see/experience some average everyday living here in my new city... this morning was just a typical ride on the train. nothing special, but i kind of like it.

our skylines

this is a photo of Molly & Ryan's windowsill. on it they have a miniture verision of the new york city skyline made from little wooden block buildings. behind it you can just make out the real san francisco skyline. i probably should have taken this photo with something other than my Holga, to really get it right, but i love it none the less. our two cities, together!

also you probably never look at my flickr stream, but you should! go look at all my new photos! xo

i owe you a letter

a real one. on paper. written with one of those thin sharpie pens i love.

but for now here's a picture of my feet and R's. taken at night in the city. i don't wear these red shoes enough.

more letters

new york is really sinking in. it feels good. work isn't all that interesting these days, but it's so amazing just to be in one place. traveling week after week is just not my thing. i've been thinking lately about taking a long vacation. like for a couple months. for some reason with all this change in my life i'm feeling the need to re-calibrate.

i miss you.

letters

i agree. i wish we could hand write them and mail them back and forth. we could do it and then scan them in and post them here.

mine today would say:

hey! things here are going really really great. i love my new city, but i sometimes wish you lived here. or sometimes i wish the coasts weren't so far away from each other. how are you? how's life?

do you remember the first time we met? i can't remember the name of the bar, but i met you, and i think you were with rana and tom that night. i remember shortly after going to a party with silver coated walls and thought to myself, "wow, this is exactly where i want to be, and in a few years we will all be such close friends and i can't wait for that." within a couple months you spent the night at my house after a party and rana got jealous because you stayed in my bed. [insert here that this was only a friend sleepover, a true beginning of a real life friendship] i remember the days that i used to spit goldfish and laugh, i'm pretty sure i was drunk. i remember the days that we had a writing group and we would all just sit around supporting each other. some really amazing one liners came out of that time. i remember the zine we did. i guess that was the beginning of all of this. do you remember talking to me about buying a stapler that would be long enough to reach the center of the pages? why don't we use staplers anymore? and copy machines. and typewriters. and pens.

i miss the days without technology too, sometimes, and maybe what i meant when i made you that patch was that - someday i will miss writing you letters.

miss you and love you, can't wait to see you soon!

we should write letters too

remember that patch you made a while back when you took that silk screening class? the one that said technology breaks my heart? that phrase has been popping into my head a lot lately. i am very aware how silly it is to write it on a blog, but sometimes i wish things were slower and that we were all a little less tied to our digital devices. i love this footage of San Francisco from the 1930's. it's silent, which feels just right.

i love it, but sometimes, technology breaks my heart.

i know i know BUT

the old debate: NY vs. SF

more here. thanks for the link Nancy!

tiny things and birthdays

i want to fly home to you every year and give you the best birthday ever!!!

i was on a farm house in upstate this year for your birthday and it just wasn't the same... i quite enjoy setting up little studios and taking pictures for your birthday. it's like a visual time line of each year unfolding.

another note:

something similar in our lives right now... we are having the same weather!

new toy

i got a friend for my Holga for my birthday. isn't she pretty? still working on the first roll, will post pics when i have some.

i missed you at my birthday party this year. truth be told i don't have the energy for throwing parties like i used to. maybe i needed your creative energy again this year, or maybe i'm over celebrating my birthday? something shifted.

i got mine!

i will soon be sharing in the same experience as you and i'm really excited about that.
